Help please! I'm going into Junior year with a 4.0 UW GPA and 4.32 WGPA (should be higher but I have extra classes that were required for JROTC and other school programs). I have gotten straight A's in all classes (regular, honors, APs) and probably have very good chances in doing so again next year with 5 APs and JROTC. As a way to improve my standing, I need to participate in some competitions outside of my school. As of now, I dont have too much to put on the Awards and Honors section of my resume if I only include my high school years. Can all of you helpful people suggest some competitions I can participate in? I want to go into Pre-Med or STEM so anything science and math related would be the most helpful! I'm also down for some essay/writing competitions. I would prefer some that are not too major like Intel and Google, as I do not see myself winning these prestigious competitions. Also, how important is winning competitions if I am aiming for colleges that rank in top 15? Thanks for the help!

How about the DuPont Science Essay Competition. There are thousands of entrants every yr, so winning is an honor. I have had a child win honorable mention, but not place in the top 3. There are around 20 or so honorable mentions)
