competition within your school

Do colleges compare you with other kids from your school / will top colleges only take 1? I have an uber rich girl (think billion+) in my grade who will trump me no matter what I do :(

No, I think they do not base acceptances on where you live… I think :/

Well, top colleges want diversity. The exact definition of ‘diversity’ remains unknown to anybody but the admissions.

More importantly, is she the dateable type?

I don’t think she’ll take your spot in any college you both happen to apply to. Nevertheless, there’s a good chance she could just buy her way into a nice college, given she’s of reasonable intelligence. It gives her a slight (major) advantage; universities know people with money can pay tuition on time, and then some, and they’re aware they must operate on business principles.

Actually colleges do often compare you to others who apply from your school, but it’s not like they have a quota per school.

They notice past acceptance rates to gauge the quality of the school but don’t compare you to other people in your school.

Seriously? I doubt MeSsIaH, with all his qualifications, would actually be overlooked in favor of this girl who merely has more money—>connections—>opportunities but perhaps less capability.

Why is she going to college? She’s got enough $ from her parents, if she really is billion+.
