Hey guys. I'm a sophomore, and I'm trying to find a new extra curricular. I know it's pretty late in the game for that, but I NEED something else. I want to do something where I can participate in competitions. This is what I have come up with so far:

Mu Alpha Theta

Model UN

Debate

Dance

Are there piano competitions?

Are there Spanish competitions? I know there's Chinese competitions... my friend went to one today.

Sports

HOSA

there are competitions for almost anything you can think of. Even making chicken noises. If you can’t find it, you probably aren’t looking hard enough.

Model UN is incredibly fun, but it isnt exactly a competition. Of course, if you do an amazing job during the forum, you could win an award for best speaker etc.

Sports, well, it is a bit late for that unless you are really good at something. Or you have to find a place where they except people of all levels, though then, the awards aren’t as meaningful.

It doesn’t even necessarily have to be competitions. By picking up dance, you can participate in performances.

Cooking competitions is stupid, no offense, but if you are doing this to impress colleges, it wont get you anywhere.

Ask your piano teacher if she knows of any places where you can compete or even just participate in the performances.

Something you should be aware of, is that no matter where you start, keep in mind that there is a chance you wont get the award just like that

I’d say go for MUN and Debate. They are incredibly fun and also a good score with any colleges.

I recommend Model UN. It is so much fun and an amazing opportunity to meet new awesome people. The other ones I am not really sure about. Just do something that YOU enjoy, not that you think colleges will enjoy seeing on your application.
