<p>There are Entitlement Cal Grants & Competitive Cal Grants, but what’s the difference?</p>
<p>You’re a California resident, meet income ceiling requirements and are going to an eligible Cal Grant institution. You’re eligible, but will be sorted into entitlement or competitive applicant categories.</p>
<p>If you’re an Entitlement applicant, you get a Cal Grant Done!!! Everybody that applies gets one.</p>
<p>There are two types of Entitlements.
- High School,
High school graduate after June 30 2007, GPA of 3.0 for CG A or 2.0 for CG B.
Once you Graduate confirm your High School Grad Date at <a href=“http://www.webgrants4students.org%5B/url%5D%5B/B%5D”>www.webgrants4students.org</a></p>
<li>Transfer Entitlement,
High school graduate after June 30, 2000, go to a California community college and then transfer to a qualifying baccalaureate-degree granting college are eligible. This award is either a Cal Grant A or B. To qualify, you must have at least a 2.4 community college GPA, be under 28 years of age as of December 31 of the award year and apply by March 2. You must transfer from a California Community College to a bachelor’s degree-granting school in the award year for which the award is offered.

You want to do this as soon as possible.</li>

<p>Competitive Cal Grants,
There are only 22,500 Grants to give out.
11,250 are awarded for March deadline the other 11,250 for the September deadline.
Limited, hence the word Competitive.</p>
<p>Competitive Applicants
Graduated high school prior to July 1st, 2007 or don’t meet the transfer criteria.</p>
<p>By these elements applicants receive points.</p>
<p>GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA) 70 Max
PARENT EDUCATIONAL LEVEL (Mother and Father) 18 Max
ACCESS EQUALIZER 18 Max
STUDENT or PARENT HOUSEHOLD STATUS 18 Max
FAMILY INCOME and HOUSEHOLD SIZE 76 Max</p>
<p>These elements are compared to tables in the
COMPETITIVE CAL GRANT A AND B PROGRAM SCORING SUMMARY FOR 2009-10.
Eventually the Commission makes this is available.</p>
<p>After all the applicants here are scored, the Commission will establish where a cutoff score is. Meaning where does the 11,250 grants run out. If your score is high enough you get a grant, if your “Score is Below Cutoff” you tried, but weren’t awarded a Cal Grant.</p>
<p>If your werent awarded dont go crazy you tried. Keep trying apply for everything.</p>
