Hey, so I’m an incoming transfer student, and I was wondering how hard it is to get into clubs like the tour guide group, etc? I know I was really surprised when I found out that my old school’s tour guide group accepted less than 10% of applicants. I just want to be more prepared this time, so any advice on applying to clubs would be great.
First of all, congrats! I hope you find your time at Penn to be a positive and rewarding experience.
I can speak for the tour guide group since I am involved with that. Kite and Key day hosts and tour guides go through a very rigorous interview process. There are two rounds of interview and a lengthy process before you are an approved guide. But don’t let that deter you from giving it a shot! As for any club, be sure you know why you want to join and any info about the club.
Many clubs at Penn are inclusive, but if you want more involvement (through board positions), that may be a bit harder.
