Does anyone know schools that ask students to fax in their other offers of financial aid ?

this varies from school to schools. Most schools that give aid soley based on need will not "Compete" with schools that give aid based on Merit. Some schools will only "compete" with peer institutions regarding FA (ivies vs. ivies or small Ivies, etc). Some state straight up that they do not "compete" Wesleyan, Brown.

Some may entertain the thought freshman year, with less of a likelihood for transfer students (as most of the FA has already been allocated to returning students).

If the school requests that you send in another school's offer, they will tell you what they accept. Some will accept faxes, others will not.

do you know of any schools that do this type of competing?

This is a new one on me - but if sharing your award notice from one to school to another helps you to get a better award from the school you really want to go to then I am not sure that is such a bad idea but this is the first time I've heard of a school asking for this information.

Some schools will consider doing a FA review and will allow you to give a FA pacakage from a comprable school (not all schools do this). Schools don't "compete" and don't "negotiate " aid.

It is not so much the "school asking for the information" as much as the student or parent asking for consideration of their package because they sent the same information to school A and School B, however, there is a big difference regarding the EFC, of whatever. Could we be overlooking something? If a student is going to ask for a review based on what another school gave them, then yes, they will have to produce the award letter.

Usually there are more things to merely sending a school your package to take into consideration. It could be harder getting a school that distributes aid based on an institutional methodology to compare a package from a school that issues aid based on Federal methodology because of their differences and schools that use both the FAFSA and the Profile are taking much more infomation into consideration.
