Competitive Gaming as an EC?

JPNguyen, you reminded me of some more stuff to add on there. I actually got my team 2 paying sponsorships as manager. And I do intend to major in business.

Well Moolah. I'm actually stating the recommendations on the assumption of how I would expect adcoms to react. I have little adcom knowledge and no experience. What I recommend that you do do is see a counselor, preferrably a counselor at the college which you plan to attend. Or your own counselor at your high school.

But if you truly are considering writing about your cs experience. One of the things that I had trouble with in cal-draft was recruiting and retaining players. Often times a pair of players would split up after a fight or something and I'd be left with one star player who got team offers from teams with better standings. So, as you can see, it takes quite a bit of leadership skills to retain players and keep the team going. Many teams often break up after a year or so competiting.

Another point could be how the skills you've gained have translated into actual life. For instance, learning how to retain people and motivate them to stay within a team is highly valuable when running a club at school or starting from scratch anywhere.

Being a scheduler could translate to time management. Were your time management skills learned from managing a team? Say you go to school, compete, study. That is a hefty load.

30 hours in class school
14 hours competiting in cs
15 hours per week studying

59 hours per week

Competitive gaming at UCLA is fierce (mostly console). You will thrive.

I think it's good if you state it very profressionally and maybe write one of your essays about it. But it's best if you have a computer type major.

If you're the leader of a clan that's in CAL I or CPL, then it'll definitely be unique and interesting.

If you're just a crazy cs player, then it's not really going to help.

Does the OP play in CAL?

Anyone here play Warcraft III or did all you noobs go to WoW lol?

I know a CPLer that's at Harvard right now... I don't think he had much time to do anything else
