Competitive HS?

Is my school competitive:

Medical Magnet School

200 in Senior Class

Texas National Exemplary School school for 9 years

Top 500 High Schools in the Nation

1129 Average SAT score

24.1 Average ACT score

3 NMF Finalists
3 Semifinalists
13 National Commended
7 National Hispanic Scholars

75% go to a 4-year university

yes it is on the competitive side but what are we comparing against? if you're comparing against some of the top high schools or boarding schools in the nation, then no, your school isn't that competitive. if you're comparing against the average public school, then yes, your school is quite competitive.

bumpy bump bumpity

I'd say it's just slightly above average.

Yeah, I agree... compared to other magnet schools like Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Tech in Northern VA, where the average SATs are 739 verbal and 756 math, with 153 national merit semifinalists and 21 national merit scholarships in a class of 420 or so...

Yeah, I don't think your high school is anything special especially for a magnet high school. My daughter attends a public high school that has average SATs around 1230, and this isn't even a magnet high school, although they do have some internal magnet programs that the high school instituted.

I think it is something....
