I've been looking around, and I haven't been able to find much info on Engineering transfer GPAs from people who have been admitted. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots?

My question is: what GPA is at minimum necessary to be considered competitive for Cal Engineering when transferring from a California Community College? Specifically civil engineering if it matters. Does it matter which classes you were weak in (math, physics, GE, etc)? Also, how important are personal statement and ECs?

Anybody have personal experience with successfully transferring?

I have a 3.74 and will complete all requirements by spring, which I feel is borderline looking at UC statfinder, but I don't want to make this just a chance JUST ME thread... I want it to be useful for anybody who's looking for CCC to Cal Engineering info. Thanks!

4.00 or don’t bother.

Eh. StatFinder says 3.76 is the average admitted to Cal Engineering for upper division California CC transfer, yet I’ve seen numerous claims like that 4.00/don’t bother above too.

It’s somewhat conflicting and confusing. Unless everybody bombs their Spring grades after getting admitted with a 4.00?

I dont think you should listen to that post. I do believe that 3.8 or better is where you need to be. A’s in all your prereqs is essential though. Trust me, they REALLY look at that especially for engineering majors

Your GPA is competitive, but not guaranteed. I think that whole “4.0 or don’t bother” thing is nonesense. Even though it is Berkeley, engineering students generally have lower GPAs compared to other majors. And yes, math/science/engineering courses are what they’ll be looking for A’s in.

^Fool I actually DO have a 4.0. dumbass

And yoshi basically said what I said in a different way. lol so yeah I think we agree
