How are admissions like for Davidson, Carleton, and Colgate?

I am interested in these schools but don't know whether it is worth applying to.

I am ranked approx. 20/600 in my school (public) and have a 31 ACT. I've take around 8-9 AP classes as well. Are these compatible to these schools? Do I have a good shot based on my scores?

Check the Common Data Set for each school. At Carleton, for example, of the 60% of the students who submitted ACT scores, 80% of those admitted scored between 30-36. And 76% were in the top 10% of the class. Assuming your grades (which at LACs is heavily weighted-around 50% of the admissions decision) are comparable, you look pretty good. I assume Davidson is comparable but you can look that up, along with Colgate.

And if you are checking out Carleton, you should definitely look at Grinnell as well. Many who apply to one, apply to the other because they have so much in common.
