completed versus will file

Does anyone know which we should choose, if we have accurate figures from work, bank etc., have completely filled out 1040A, but don't yet have the W-2's physically in hand yet? If we check "will file," is it necessary to go back to the FAFSA and correct it?

I asked the FAFSA folks and the first person told me to change it to "will file" because taxes had not actually been sent. But the second person told me that this will make the colleges think the figures are estimates, and that we will have to go back and correct it to "completed."

Also wondering if this will somehow affect our awards. Tried to get everything in right away...we need the money! Thanks...

1) You mark it "will file".
2) You then edit the FAFSA and change it to "complete" (including any changes to the numbers).

But if all you're waiting for are the W-2's, and by law your employer must give them to you by Jan. 31, why not just wait? You really don't have to submit it today.
