I had multiple scholarships that I was eligible to apply for but completely forgot about it… How big of a mistake was this? Thanks!
Other than possibly getting the scholarships, applying for the scholarships is only slightly beneficial since it does count as demonstrated interest. But you can show that you are interested in many other ways, so it is not a big deal! You do need to apply for the scholarships to be considered for them, but all the scholarships are highly competitive, and the applications take quite a bit of time.
Overall, I wouldn’t waste the time and energy stressing about it now
@kitkat231 Thanks for your response! What are some ways I could show interest?
@blue221 In general, visiting campus and interviewing on campus are good ways to demonstrate interest. In addition, my admissions counselor from WashU visited my school, and I made sure to attend her information session. When I visited campus I spoke to my admissions counselor (no appointment, just dropped in to say hi), and sent a thank you email for talking to me. I also sent a prompt thank you to my student interviewer at WashU.
In general, any contact with your admissions counselor (in moderation, they are busy people), expressing your commitment to WashU and the reasons you are interested in the school are good ways to demonstrate interest. This could mean in person contact, emails, calls, etc. Also adding yourself to the mailing list is an easy way to show a bit of interest.
That being said, I would not stress about showing interest too much now. I’ve seen many people on this thread who have been accepted or awarded scholarships who say that they demonstrated little to no interest. And since decisions should be released relatively soon for WashU, I would instead focus on relaxing (if that is possible haha).
Ah okay thanks so much!
I think applying to scholarships/USP program themselves show demonstrated interest in a way (extra essays and such) and doing the research to know of available scholarships.
@AznDude525 Yeah that would make sense
