completely new to this! would you be willing to chance me? :D

First, THANK YOU(!!!) for reading this and (maybe) giving me a hand!

There are a couple things I'm worrying about! First, my math scores. I'm much weaker in math than any other subject: this is partially due to a semester I spent with my family in New Zealand my sophomore year. My math education got a bit mixed up, I never learned functions... and my SAT's show the result.

Also: I'm unsure as to whether I have enough safety/match schools. I would love it if y'all could give me a hint over there.

My schools (all regular decision, i didn't get my act together to do ED or EA)

Brown
Earlham
Haverford
Macalester
Middlebury
Oberlin
Occidental
Pomona
Wesleyan

My tops atm are Wesleyan, Pomona, and Middlebury.

Okay. About me. I'm a white girl, from New England, at a private school with not such a great rep. We don't do all that well sending people off to top schools and all. But.

My weighted GPA (which is what my school sends off to schools? i think?) for senior year is a 4.0/96.8 for this last quarter.

My courses this year are: AP Psych, AP Bio, AP French, AP English Literature, AP Stats, and photography 1

Junior year I took: AP US History (Scored a 5), Physics, Pre-Calc (not honors), French 4/5 honors, and AP English Comp (Scored a 5)

Sophomore year, I was in New Zealand. Got all A's ... except for a C in calculus.

SAT Composite is 2180
SAT I Math: 640
SAT I Critical Reading: 800
SAT I Writing: 740

SAT II Literature: 750
SAT II U.S. History: 720
SAT II French with Listening: 750

Extracurriculars (mostly copied from the common app!)

Art: I do graphic design (posters, brochures, illustration for businesses, nonprofits), and art for pleasure. My latest graphic design project was a map for a local non-profit, showing all the bike trails in my area. It had a run of 10,000 copies, distributed at libraries and at trailheads throughout the area. I'm submitting an art portfolio to all my schools.

-Theater: I've been in/will be in all 6 plays Junior-Senior year. I've had 2 lead roles.

-Political Forum/Debate Club: I'm President of both at my school. I won our School Debating Prize, 2007. and got the best Speaker Prize for the Central Auckland region in 2008. I also attended National New Zealand Model United Nations as South Korea.

-Art/literary magazines: I'm the editor for two of them. Co-editor of Janus (for school), and publisher/editor of The Crier (for my Quaker youth group). I also submit to them. Which is a bit unethical? :)

-Writing Center Tutor: This is a nominated position. I help edit and refine other students' papers.

I also write for our newspaper, tour prospective students, and fundraise for my school. I am part of some other clubs (GSA, Stand, Amnesty) but I don't feel I'm active enough to list them.

Honors and Awards:

-National Merit Commended Scholar

-I've been on the High Honor roll at my school for every quarter but 2 since frosh year, when I made Honors instead.

9th in Nation on Le Grand Concours French Exam last year

I was awarded the Michael I. Ginsberg Scholarship (for consistant rigorous academic pursuit) for last two years.

I don't know if i'm supposed to put anything more. so....? what do you all think?

hmmm. i wonder if there’s anything i missed?

great SAT I and SAT II scores. Nice EC’s, but i didn’t glimpse anything particularly outstanding. Good grades, but the C in an important class like Calc might hurt a little.
Solid chances at all.

Oberlin, Mac, and Earlham I think you’re basically in but not quite guaranteed.
Good luck!
