COMPLETELY STUCK! PLEASE HELP. UF vs. UMiami

Hi guys, so my decision so far has been based on the money factor because that is what my family can afford. Anayway, I live in Miami and I am I have basically a full ride to UF so I should definately take that. However, with the scolarship that I got from UM and their financial aid, I have full tuition to UM! I am going premed and I know both schools are very well known for their success with premed students. If I stay at UM I would most likely be living at home which sucks because I really want the college experince so that leads me to wanting to go to UF. However, I was talking about this with my councelor and she said that going to a public school right now is not the best idea due to the economic situation of the country. So, I am basically stuck! Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas? please I really really need some good input.

Thank you!

I know a few other people who have had the same problem. Some went to UF, others went to Miami.
I’ll just post a link to another thread for this topic:

It’s from a few years ago, so a lot of things have changed.

If you prefer UM for academics, and living at home is the compromise you need to make in order to have that, then UM is your better choice. If you want to get away from home, then UF is your better option. You have to think about just exactly how important it is to you to have the “away from home” experience now rather than later.

You also need to find out what is required to keep both of those scholarships in future years. Do either of them depend on a particular GPA or major? Are they guaranteed to cover the same amount of money for four years, or are they guaranteed to cover the cost of specific factors no matter what the increase in the cost of those factors might be? If the UF scholarship package is dependent on the state renewing funding every year, UM may be your better choice given the current economic situation in Florida.

Wishing you all the best as you make your decision.

Florida is ranked slightly higher and its cheaper - UM is really not worth any extra cost.
