I have recieved all of my letters back and have narrowed my choices down to Georgetown (Business school), Emory, Michigan, and UVA. Now i am completely torn. As someone looking to pursue a career in business, possibly a finance major, and also looking to eventually move back to the northeast (I live outside philly), what would make the most sense. I did recieve scholarships, but money is not going to play a factor in my decision. When I went to visit georgetown the other day, I found that I loved it. Though it is not ranked as well as other undergraduate business programs, from what I heard, I learned that the prestige of the university plays a huge role in eventual job search and also that the connections you make are undeniably great. I'm going to see the other three schools next week, so I don't have as much knowledge on them. Hopefully somebody can guide me in the right direction. Anything would be really appreciated. Also, I am planning (as of now) to work for two years and then go back for an MBA.

i skimmed your dilemma and wanted you to know you're not alone! I'm interested in business, probably finance, and am torn between 3 schools: Georgetown and UVa, which we have in common, and then Northwestern.
It's so tough to decide, a month doesn't seem long enough!

So unfortunately I can't help you at all at this point, but maybe later on..I'm visiting UVA on the 21st...(and NU next week) hopefully it'll all be clear after spending some time on campus!! Good luck!

I would definitely go to Georgetown.

Unless you prefer large schools and then I would go to UVA.

somecollege,
congrats
all 4 colleges are amazing
1) emory: i dont know a lot about it, but its in atlanta. do you want to be there for 4 years, coming from philly?
2) Umich: amazing school, but huge, has one of hte best biz schools in the country
3) uva: another amazing school, located in charlottesvill,e not a city, but a very nice town. also has a top five biz school. but you only get admission for your junior and senior year
4) gtown biz school is not the best in the country, i admit. but it is ver new, only about 30 years old. out of all 4, gtown has the best location and the most prestige. also gtown opens so many doors and has so many opportunities. every single top company/bank/firm recruits at gtown.

it all depends what you want. what are you interested in?

MSB is also getting better, with Dean George Daly at the helm.

I'm interested in finance, and i know that georgetown puts out more investment bankers than anyone, but I don't know if i want to work 80 hours a week for 15 years

thats right, if you want a comical but truthful look into the world of ibanking rewad Monkey Business: Swinging Thru the Jungle of Wall St - written by 2 i bankers who quit after first year.
