Completing Haas Pre-reqs

Hello,

I'm now a second year and applying to Haas this fall.

I've taken Econ 1, UGBA, Math 16a, Lit req for the Haas pre-reqs. For the fall, I am taking an Econ pre-req and breadth courses.

I was planning on taking Stats in the spring. Will the fact that I am taking Stats in the spring hurt my chances of getting into Haas?

Also, can I take a couple of the remaining breadth courses as P/NP? I think I read somewhere on the forums that getting good grades on the pre-req courses is what counts?

Thanks!

No, a lot of students take Stat 20/21 in the spring because it’s supposedly the hardest pre-req in a lot of people’s opinions. It’s fine if you take it then

And yes, you can P/NP breadth. They are looking for the whole package, not just grades, so don’t worry too much

Hi, thanks! Was this a case for you? A pre-req in the spring?

It depends on whether you think you can do well or not.

If you think you can nail Stats 21 this Fall, then it will help you get in.
If you think you won’t do as well in Stats 21, then do it in the Spring. No harm done.

Doing it in Fall and getting an A will help you, BUT doing it in Spring will not harm you.

Personally, I did it in the Spring because I didn’t think I would do well.

Thanks so much! I think i’ll be saving it for the spring as well.

Stats was my favorite subject of the three, but I don’t think that’s a common opinion for most people. I took it earlier and got an A, but I wish I had saved Econ or something for later. It worked out though :)
