Completing the core requirements as a transfer student?

I have already applied as a transfer student. I was just wondering how filing the core curriculum would happen for a transfer student?

First, how many classes are part of Fordhams core curriculum and would a transfer have difficulty fulfilling the requirement?

Fordham has a very large core curriculum. You should be able to find in on the school website. It is slightly different for liberal arts, business, and science students. I would try to talk to an advisor at the school and get a sense of how many classes you have taken will be accepted by Fordham and which ones will count towards the core. I’d then try to set up a program where you can fulfill the requirements of the core as well as your major. Depending on the classes you have taken, it is certainly do-able…but some people do need to take some summer classes and my S has a friend who needs to spend an extra semester at Fordham to fulfill the requirements. My S started Fordham as a freshman so there was no issue but I think the core is definitely something you should pay attention to before transfering to Fordham.

for liberal arts, I think the core is pretty close to most schools general education requirements, the exception being (I think) two religion and two philosophy. I have taken the two philo and one religion, I am just hoping they OK these even if not exactly the same. Other than that it looks pretty similar to most liberal arts, two years of a foreign language (unless or to the extent you place out), math, english, some expressive art (I took a music theory course), science.

Does anyone know how they communicate admission decisions for transfers? I understand they start in late March.

You’ll get an email followed by a letter in the mail.
