Complicated Decision

Today i got waitlisted to Case Western. That i don't really care about, but it makes me think that i will definity get denied to Lehigh, my number one choice. I was almost positive i would get in, as they accept 70% or so. Lehigh only accepts 40%. Let me know what you think,i'm pretty much in awe.

All classes were honors or AP when given the chance.

I am sorry about the WL. Admission can be very arbitrary and you may very well get into Lehigh; your class rank is good. But my guess would be that your SATs, both I and II, are on the low side, and because these are schools that would like to move up in the ratings they will prefer candidates whose test scores will help them in that respect.

:(. I can see why you are surprised about the decision. You should be a strong candidate for Lehigh, so don't get too discouraged. Good luck!

Walshs don't worry too much...couple years ago my son also was waitlisted at Case Western----but accepted to Johns Hopkins and Carnegie Mellon (where he went) which are both significantly more selective than Case. You'll probably find as mattmom said admission is arbitrary.

In son's case he never visited, had no interview, so if that is the case with you it could be an explanation.

As far as Lehigh I think you have a good chance...good luck!

thanks, i applied to JHU too, so hopefully i'll have your son's luck.

You don't have a set formula. There's no formula you have that says if you're wait-listed at a less selective school you're denied from a more selective one--it doesn't work like that. I think you're a pretty good candidate, myself.
