Ok, so here is he deal, I just moved to St louis, MO from Los Angeles, CA about 2 years ago (beginning of my freshman year). I would like to move back to California for college and go to a school such as UCLA. My dad still lives in California, but my mom is here with me in St louis. Is there any way I can get in state tuition with my dad still living in California? I have heard if he puts me on his taxes this could help, but i am not sure.

CA will consider you a resident of the state where you graduate from HS, usually.
Go to a UC website and read the actual form that has to be filled out- they will ask for DL, car registration, votor reg, state where you lived etc.

What you could do, if you plan to stay in MO for the remainder of HS, is move to Ca after graduation and establish residency during a gap year, then apply for a UC as a resident

ok thanks, anyone else plz?

I think that somemom is correct. I had the exact same situation as you, except I moved to Florida from Wisconsin. My dad put me on his taxes and I got residency, but I had to declare residency under a certain subsection of the residency rules. So make sure there aren’t any exceptions or loopholes for if you have a parent in that state.
