Complicated, stressful situation .. someone please help

Hi all. So here's the thing:

I'm currently taking Pre-Calculus at a community college for summer II session before I transfer to Rutgers this September. I need 65 credits to graduate and receive my associate's. I currently have 61 and this class, (a 4-credit course), would be the very last fulfillment in order to graduate, get my associate's, and get outta here. Honestly, I didn't HAVE to take Pre-Calc. It's not even a pre-req for my major nor is it a requirement for my associate's degree. I'm taking it only because it's a 4 credit course and I need just exactly 4 more credits.

Okay however, I realized that I'm failing this class. Just a few steps away from reaching the finish line, and I feel like I'm screwing up big time. I'm somewhat positive that the chances I'm going to get an F in this class are high. So let's say I end up failing. What would happen? Rutgers NEEDS proof of associate's degree before September 1st. So if I fail this class, I would receive 0 credits, be stuck at 61 credits, and therefore, be unable to get my associate's right? So then I would be screwed and not be able to attend Rutgers? I am in a confused and miserable situation right now. Someone please help, thank you.

Wait… so this class doesn’t even count toward your degree? You need to check with an advisor at your school because if what you say is true, then it won’t be counted at all towards your associates degree. Im not sure what school you’re attending, but at my community college it had to be a requirement of your major to receive credit for the degree. For me I needed 64 to graduate and I graduated in May and I transferred with my associates degree as well… I’d say check with an advisor at school to make sure. Best of luck.

^Oh no, of course it counts towards my degree. What I meant was that, Pre-Calc itself isn’t a “required” aka mandatory class like let’s say, English Composition I where everyone has to take it. So I didn’t have to take Pre-Calc. I only chose it so that I can fill up my remaining 4 credits. That’s what I meant. But I’m on the merge of failing this class and I am wondering that if I do, if Rutgers would rescind and not let me in. I mean I already payed my deposits, housing fee, meal plan, and everything … ugh.

Sorry about the misunderstanding, its hard to say. Talk to your professor and see if there is absolutely anything you could do to at least pass with with a C… tell him/her your situation… depending on your professor they might try and help you.

study atleast 5hrs a day on precal go on youtube, khanacademy or bunch of websites for help. Ask the professor if he has office hours and explain your situation. Most likely if you ace the final you will pass. Talk to him and ask what you need to get a C.

It may seem a lot but that 5hrs a day can save your acceptance to rutgers, if you fail they will most likely rescind the offer.

Study everyday like you would study for a final you are cramming for

Hes right ^^^

Khan Academy is excellent for precalc. Study your butt off! It may seem tedious and hard now but it’ll pay off, you really must give it your all.

Good luck!
