Complicated Transfer NYU to Cornell

Sorry, this is kind of a chance-me thread but it really helps.

I'm a sophomore at NYU applying as a Spring 2011 transfer and I'm wondering if I should disclose a hardship (that was entirely not my fault) that messed up my junior year of high school. Other than junior year (and the PSAT) I was able to bounce back pretty well so I was wondering it was even necessary to touch on my serious grade drop.

STATS:
English Major
3.9 GPA NYU CAS
Honors Program straight out of high school

Extracurriculars:
High School:
Model UN Officer and Awards
Editor in Newspaper, Yearbook and Lit Mag
Won several state-wide poetry awards

College:
Two volunteer organizations
Championship Debate Team
Won a minor research award
Internship working with several state organizations

SATs are questionable:
780V 680W 580M (abysmal, I know)

I took six APs in high school and got 5's in all but 1. I took tests in humanities, sciences and social sciences

Outstanding Recs

Good Essays (I've been writing professionally on-and-off for three years, and, clearly, this post in particular is not one of my better works).

After all that, is it worth going into why I feel from top 10 percent to top 20 in high school?

Chance me...please?

sounds like you have really good chances. I wouldn’t touch on it too much because you’re doing so well at nyu, that they can clearly see that you deserve to be here. Let me know if you get in, because I’m moving off campus and looking to get rid of my dorm room, which is one of the best ones you could possibly get coming in as a transfer. I’m right in collegetown, which is really rare for campus housing.

Best of luck!!

I’ll say your chances are good.
