hey, I want to major in english/journalism/creative writing/history....very humanities oriented. I scored really high on verbal and writing and a good 180 points lower in math..yes, and that was with math tutoring. However, my math score is 20 points lower than the ranges I was looking at of the schools I like. However, my verbal score is higher than the averages in the range. Will this matter?

Also, I am a good student..get all A's, occasional B+s (honors student... school is guilty of grade deflation)...yet, I have had a solid C+ through high school in honors math. I mean, two quarters I got a B, and one quarter last year...a D+. I know!! Its horrible...I have had tutors and everything, but to not avail. Surprisingly, I am still great at science and computers.

Anyway, will this hurt me that bad at schools like Sarah Lawrence, Emerson, and other "artsy/communications" schools...I really like Fordham as well. :-)

I was just reading this because I can definitely identify. To all the frazzled juniors out there who are terrified like I was, try not to worry so much. I had an 800V and a 680M cringe. I did really well in math classes though, and received a 5 on my AP Calc exam. I got into Tufts and Bowdoin (not ivys, I know, but still) and Boston College (and a bunch of waitlists), so just make sure you apply to a range of schools and work really hard on keeping yoru GPA up. And Bowdoin and Middlebury don't require the SAT I as far as I know, so that's another option.
