Comprable Schools

Hey, i'm hoping to hear everyone's insight on this question. In your opinions, what schools do you feel are most similar to NYU? i've heard different people say different things and i want to see if there's a general consensus here on CC.

Georgetown? Boston University? UCLA?

Boston University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Emerson College

Emerson is not widely known compare to other ones. However I think it is comparable to NYU in some aspects for the College is in the heart of Boston, a major city, and it is specialized in Communication and the Arts.

www.bc.edu

www.gwu.edu

www.georgetown.edu

www.emerson.edu

Pitt, CMU, Temple, UMiami, Emory, Georgia Tech, College of Charleston, Suffolk in Boston,DePaul, the Loyolas, Tulane are some city schools. If NYC is your major goal, there is Fordham in Lincoln Center, Pace, Eugene Lang, St Johns, Manhattanville. What you are planning to study, what aspects of NYU you like would really narrow the list further. Emerson is a good bet for a much smaller version of NYU in Boston in some disciplines.

Academically, Georgetown is probably your best match.

kj - you put a link to Boston College. I think you meant www.bu.edu . BC is better than BU but it's not right in Boston.

haha yes it was a mistake!!! i will edit it...but i don't think i can now. see? i am a rejectee. haha :)

i

What does everybody else think?

Check the other thread for my answers.

I certainly would NOT compare Lang, Pace, or Emerson to NYU.

You dont think CAS NYU compares to emerson just a little bit?

I do not think Emerson is a comparable school. Its location might be, but everything else is very different.

Emerson is much smaller

Emerson is dedicated to just a few specialized programs
etc.

Nope. I'm not knocking Emerson, but its nowhere in the league of any NYU school. Furthermore, if Emerson is to be compared to any NYU school, it would be to School of Ed. or Tisch...not CAS (communications, visual arts, etc, the type of stuff Emerson is known for, are not CAS programs, you find these mostly in Ed.).
