<p>I am now thankful that D decided she wanted a traditional dorm and do not need full kitchen and bathroom supplies. YEA!</p>

<p>Reminds me, anyone dissing UA doing stuff early misses the point. We can attempt to get ahead all year long instead of having one big spending shopping spree, aka driving dad bankrupt, weekend just before they move off to college. Glad we have spread stuff around since November now. We move D in next Tuesday. CRAZY! Yes, she was added to the prayer list at church today.</p>

<p>I told D that if it will not fit in the back of the Suburban with all of our luggage and 5 occupants, it will NOT fit in the dorm room :slight_smile: Trying to limit her baggage that we have to haul up and down those stairs.</p>

<p>My non-Greek D didn’t take everything on TXA’s list (although she did take about 7 dozen t-shirts - the staple of her wardrobe), but you’d be amazed how much the supersuites hold. The closets are a very good size, you don’t need to use bedroom space for bathroom and kitchen stuff, since you can put it in the bathroom and kitchen, and in the older style supersuites there’s a storage closet in the hallway to boot (great for boxes, suitcases and golf clubs). All that space (and the attendant “stuff”) is probably why we were all complaining about move-out last month!</p>

<p>For the holidays, dances, and events:
Halloween outfit, mask for Masquerade dance, outfit for the Quidditch Games, Hawaiian shirt/ skirt, and decorations for all of the holidays.</p>

<p>You would likely have many of these items at home. :)</p>

<p>If you need to hook up more than one item to the internet connection, you need a switch.</p>

<p>My DD lived in Riverside last year and I would add to your list a can of waterproofer, a Padogonia pullover and a hot glue gun. She sprayed her backpack, raincoat, and umbrella at least once a month to ensure adequate waterproofing. It did make a difference especially when she had her laptop and there were sudden downpours. The Padogonia added the perfect layer of warmth in the fall and winter. Finally the hot glue gun I accidentally packed for move in purposes, however the girls ended up using it the whole year for projects, repairs, crafting (they got creative at Halloween) etc.</p>

<p>Shipping some items is a very good idea. If we had not done that when my son was a freshman, we would not have had enough room in the car, and it was loaded up, too! Even now, my son (who recently graduated and did live in Ridgecrest West for a year) admits that we overpacked for his first year. So while it is great to have all these things on all these lists, you can have too much.</p>
