-- Comprehensive Thread on CommonApp ID Number --

Seriously, guys. Does anyone know what’s going on with this?

I gave up and printed out my forms sans CommonApp ID number after reading that only Stanford really cares (and I’m not applying there.) I would have just written it in, but I couldn’t even find it. Since then, though, I’ve seen some posts implying that forms sent to any school are null and void without CommonApp ID number.

On these forums, I’ve seen two different types of post:

“I can’t find my ID number or get the forms to print out with it!!” (I belong to this category), and

“I just clicked ‘print’ and the ID number was on there.”

Whenever someone posts something like #2, people are like “OMG HOW DID U FIND IT WHERE DID U GO,” and from what I’ve seen, the poster never replies.

SO. Is there anyone here that has successfully printed CommonApp forms with his or her ID number on them and can provide a step-by-step explanation of what they clicked???

Update:

The posts on this page imply that whether or not your ID shows up depends on your high school.

What.

Update 2:

This post may provide a way to get the ID number on there by inviting a teacher without an email address.

Update 3:

Above method has been confirmed by my friend (who attends my school and thus did not have ID number readily available at first.)

Now I'm mad at myself for having gotten my forms in to my teachers early, before I knew about this. That's what I get for trying to be responsible and get stuff done early... angry face
