COMPSCI 3S, what about it?

This is the self paced version of 3L, and i had some questions about it.
1. What books do we have to buy for it, i'm looking on bkstr and it doesnt list any...
2. Do they arrange a time/final exam group for the class later on that may interfere with another one of my classes, or do we do the work for the class on our own time? How does all of this work?
3. Will this class prepare me for the CS 61 series? I'm deciding between majoring in MCB and CS in L&S, so incase I choose to major in CS, will this class prepare me for the 61 series and a major in CS?
4. And whats the difference in the content you learn in regards to the units you take? Should i take 4 units to prepare for all of the cs 61 series or should i do 3?

I'd really appreciate any advice that you'd have.

oh, and also, how hard/easy is it to get an A?

this class has a pretty high fail rate, but an almost equally high rate for the number of As handed out. i guess some people either get really and others completely dont. there is no actual timing for the course so you can go to the self-pace center whenever you want to finish quizzes and programs. i believe it is sufficient to prepare you for the 61 series (good luck with that btw) although 61a covers all of cs 3 within the first few weeks or so. also, i recomment taking all 4 units of 3s if you plan on going into 61a–taking it for 1 or 2 units (which you will be later told is an option) is not to your benefit unless you are already very familiar with scheme. the book i used was grillmeyers intro to scheme
