CompSci at Rose Hulman or WPI?

It's down to the wire - any thoughts on Comp Sci at either Rose-Hulman or WPI? Or any other factors?

Thank you!

Bumping…

I’m bumping this too, as I’d love to read some responses.

From what I’ve heard from a friend who went to WPI, he was unhappy there- he says the social life was nonexistent, and most of his professors weren’t very engaging. From that alone, I’d vote Rose Hulman. Have you visted either one?

S of very close friends graduated from WPI and landed a great job w/ excellent pay. He was extremely happy during his time at WPI and had a full social life. He loved the project work, including his term in Australia.

So, I guess my point is really that you can gather lots of opinions, and many will be at opposite ends of the spectrum. What feels “right” for your S?

Yes, S has visited both, but Rose Hulman was during the summer (during Catapult) and WPI was a few weeks ago.

The differences? WPI has the IQP project which takes students around the world. 12% of the degrees granted at WPI are in CS v. 6% at RHIT. WPI offers a major in Game Design. WPI’s campus is urban, RHIT’s is suburban. From reviews I have read, I think RHIT has a better math department. RHIT will cost us less. RHIT has 3 terms per year, WPI has 4 (not counting a 5th term in the summer).

Son is leaning slightly one way, but hasn’t completely made up his mind. That’s why I’m asking - to see if there is anything we’re missing.

Four terms a year? Wow, they must really clip along. How many classes do students typically take per term?

Three. Terms are 7 weeks each, I believe.

Thanks for the info, CBBBlinker. That would be a big difference if one were deciding between it and a school with semester courses.
