CompSci vs CIS

<p>Can someone compare CS and CIS majors in terms of use and possible careers? I've heard that CS is more theoretical and scientific, while CIS is more applied (whatever that means).</p>

<p>It would seem to me that CompSci would be programmers, creating software, while CIS guys would be the IT support. Is this assumption correct? Are the levels of math required for the two fields similar?</p>
