Hi, i'm new to the board so i'm not exactly sure how this works but if there's been another thread on this topic or anything let me know.
i'm very interested in computer 3d animation, and i'm pretty sure thats what i want to major in. however i'm having trouble finding colleges that have good programs in this. please if you have any reccomendations of colleges post them! i have looked at several colleges such as SCAD that specialize in the arts and such, and those are great, if you have anymore please recommend those. however i would also like some choices of colleges that have good programs in computer animation and such, but aren't neccessarily an ART college. If you have any suggestions at all PLEASE post them. thanks!!!

Digipen? It's got links with Nintendo and Microsoft... I'm going to assume that your reason for wanting to study this is to get into the games industry.

actually, the i was thinking of going into the industry for film, working with pixar and such on animated films like shrek. any ideas for schools?

Try this link - it has excellent information and a list of schools:
http://www.animationarena.com/animation-colleges.html

I don't know about that website -- there seem to be an awful lot of online schools.

I've always heard that Rochester Institute of Technology has a good program. I'd also check out UCLA, USC, California Institute of the Arts, and the San Francisco Academy of Art College.

Texas A&M University College of Architecture has a program that consistently places their graduates in ILM, Pixar, and other top positions.

Full Sail is exactly what you are looking for - it's really good for computer animation and videography, more focused on the tech part that strictly fine arts

http://www.fullsail.com/

A graduate of Full Sail worked on the movie The Incredibles, so this place is high quality.

ILM article on TAMU grads..... http://www.theforce.net/jedicouncil/interview/ilmag.asp

Wow, that Full Sail place looks sweet! My parents would never go for it though, it looks like part of Disney World.

thanks for the replies! keep 'em comin if you have anymore, all of these look great!

Check out Ringling School of Art and Design. Yes, as in Ringling Bros Circus, in Florida. They have a computer animation major. I personally know nothing about them but a friend of mine's S graduated from there and I believe is now employed with EA, helping make the NFL videogames.

Please check Full Sail completely - there have been some pretty negative posts about it.

i heard that university of michigan has a program, but i can't seem to find anything on it. can anyone confirm this rumor?

Ohio State has a well known program: http://accad.osu.edu/ for more info.

Cal Arts in Valencia, CA

thanks! anyone know about umich?
