I am looking into taking a computer class at a local community college, and was wondering what type of class would give me good experience or knowledge that will be needed with the new engineering computer programs. Or just any class that would be of good use in the future for college. Thanks!

If you're looking into Computer Science or Computer Engineering programs then I would recommend a basic course in Java, to get your feet wet.

Well I don't really want to do computer engineering, but I've talked to a few engineering students and they said that having some computer classes under your belt really helps. I just don't know what to take.

I think that any class that gives you a basic introduction to programming will help a good deal. No matter what type of engineering you go into, basic programming skills are helpful. So, like Coltrane said, a basic course in Java would be helpful. Python would be another fine language to learn, if it's offered.

all basic computer classes are pretty much the same, there's only so much they will teach you the first year (basic/advanced/custom data types, repetition/selection structures, etc)....the only things that change are the syntaxes

Take either C or C++ or Java programming class. If you can't do that then take an AutoCAD or some sort of CAD class. (Not programming but useful)

CAD or C/++.

:)
