As I progress in getting my EE degree, I realize that what I really want to do is a Computer Engineering-type job (ie. IC design for Intel). I've taken a few CpE themed classes such as Digital Logic Design (including VHDL lab) and a extensive course on MOSFETs including digital applications.

But upon comparing my course load to that of a Computer Engineer at my school I miss out on several key classes (Computer Architecture, microprocessors, Algorithms, VLSI, etc).

I may be able to take a few of these before I graduate next year, but chances are I'll only be able to fit in Algs and maybe Comp Architecture.

As I've heard quite often from people, you don't really use much of what you learn in school in the workplace. So would a lack of these classes give me a significant disadvantage if I wanted to get a job in CpE?
