Computer Engineering and Game Design

I'm looking to major in Computer Engineering with a minor in Video Game Design (that minor isn't extremely important, but it would definitely be a plus). Right now Carnegie Mellon is at the top of my list but I'm not sure if I will get in (see this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=400225 ). I'm more interested in a school that can offer a great education than a traditional "party" school, so what else would you recommend?

Right now the only other college on my list is RIT (which I'm not sure if it's competitive enough there). Georgia Tech is probably my safety school, but I haven't made a trip out there yet because I live in CT.

Hmm, any thoughts on UCLA?

Georgia Tech and Carnegie Mellon are in a different league than RIT. RIT might be a good safety.
