computer engineering and mechanical engineering job outlook

whats the job outlook like? I hear that most jobs are leaving the country and going overseas. Is that true for both? Then i figured that if someone went to a generally prestigous school and got a masters then they would have a better opportunity.

I think the outlook for both is still pretty good. All of the talk of outsourcing is pretty exaggerated. Sure, the tech support/IT jobs are being outsourced, but most of them don't require a college degree anyway. These jobs also probably don't directly affect a company's bottom line and are just support functions. If you are doing a critical engineering job that is the basis of a company's revenue (ie product design), these jobs are pretty safe from outsourcing. The companies that outsource their key design personnel/engineers won't be in business for very long anyway.

What exactly is an IT job?

And does computer engineers or programmers count as IT?
