Computer Engineering at Cornell

How is the Computer Engineering program at Cornell? How would it compare to that of University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign?

A lot of people tend to confuse Computer Science and Computer Engineering; I am focusing on the hardware aspect not software development.

Could you recommend any other good Computer Engineering programs?

Yes. Cornell’s program is very good. Research-wise, it is just slightly behind UIUC. In terms of the undergraduate experience, it is a notch above UIUC as the program is more undergraduate focused and there are more opportunities for undergrads to get involved in research, etc.

Other good private programs:

MIT, Stanford, CMU, Princeton, RPI

Other good pubic programs:

Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Purdue

Hey Cayuga, I’m choosing Cornell over UIUC for electrical engineering 100% sure; however, I would like to know what makes UIUC slightly better for engineering? Research? And how is the interships/work-placement compared in the engineering field for these univs?

Simply the research of the faculty. And that’s mostly because the UIUC faculty is larger.

My sense is that internships/work-placement at Cornell and UIUC are the same for a given quality of students. However, there may be a larger proportion of “high caliber” students at Cornell in the eyes of employers, and part of that reason may be due to more opportunities per student at Cornell.

I’m really not the best to speak on this topic.

Ok, thanks man
