I'm currently a sophomore at Portland State University majoring in computer engineering. I've spent the last few weeks trolling around the internet applying to any computer engineering related internship in the Portland/Hillsboro/Beaverton Oregon area that I had the minimum requirements for. Which are few and far between, because most internships seem to be for post-junior or graduate level students.

And I'm honestly starting to get discouraged. I barely fit the minimum requirements for the jobs I do apply for. A few internships I've found sound perfect for me, until I get to the requirements section where they want me to have Microsoft Access and SQL experience. How am I supposed to have experience with these languages when all of my college courses have been in C++?

I have a 3.86 GPA and I'm completely on course to graduate in 4 years, so school isn't the issue. Just searching the internet, I see a lot of other students saying that I should be working on projects outside of school or joining a club for experience. Well that's great and all, but by time I get done with all of my school work, the last thing I want to do is spent my free time working on projects.

So should I just expect to have to work some random job again this summer and try again junior year, or do I actually have a shot at getting one?
