Computer Engineering Universities with Marching Band

Hello, I am looking for some back up schools, or other schools that Have a pretty good Computer Engineering Program plus have a marching band/ winter percussion which incorporates a Front Ensemble (instruments such as the marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, synth etc).

I have already found a school that I hope to attend: Boston University, they have both Marching Band plus winter percussion and they go on actual WGI competitions. They have a good computer engineering program and I love how its in a city environment.

Please suggest me other universities/colleges.

I would like to go out of california, but if there are some here please suggest them to me. I would not like to go to the south, heat and humidity that intense is not my friend haha.

Also I am an IB student, in Marching Band/ Winter Drumline (playing the vibraphone), in many clubs, gonna have some great letters of rec, I can't list my SAT scores, cause I just took them and am waiting for the results.

I'll be attending college next year.

Thanks for everything :D

Not sure if they have everything you are looking for but maybe Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Washington. Best of luck!

Wisconsin-Madison has a nationally prominent marching band and you get to play on a much bigger stage.

barrons, is that you sporting a mohawk in slide 3? :)

No, I hate facial hair.

BU has a marching band? With no football team when do they perform, in front of 50 soccer fans? Check out UMass-Amherst, probably best marching band in northeast.

^^^

Yes, who does BU’s marching band perform in front of if they don’t have a football team???

*Well for cost I know I am able to receive many grants *

???

Why do you think that you’ll receive “many grants”??? Where did you get that idea???

Public U’s won’t give you “grants” except for any small amount of federal Pell that you might get based on EFC. Public U’s don’t have much money to give as need-based aid, so whatever they have, they give to their instate kids.

Participants in marching bands don’t get much money either…they’ll get like $500 for the fall semester.

Schools like UMass-Amherst, UWashington, and UWisconsin would not be affordable.

UPitt might be affordable if they give you a good merit scholarship (depending on your stats).

Schools like BU don’t give great aid, either.

I’m concerned that if you don’t apply to the right schools, you’ll end up with a handful of acceptances in the spring that are unaffordable.

The College Board’s CollegeMatchmaker search engine will let you look for your major and activities that are important to you. Today it came up with 149 4-year schools that offer computer engineering and have marching bands. [College MatchMaker: Results](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board) While this is almost certainly more than you want to look at, you can refine the search by eliminating states that you don’t want to live/study in.

An alternative, would be to start with the schools with the best bands, and then find out which of them have your major.
