I will be a freshman next year in Kelley and am looking at my options for my laptop for school. Does anyone reccomend a certain kind for me since I will be in the business school?

Well obviously… you can’t go wrong with using a Windows computer since it’s essentially the business standard and the computers that Kelley uses, but I have several Kelley friends who have Macs and didn’t have any complications. There isn’t a requirement to have a Windows computer. It’s really up to you on which laptop that you want.

Everyone says you can do either, but from what I have been told most people do PC. The business technology classes are PC based and so is most of the business world. I know Macs run a lot better but they are 1k +. I figured if I have to I can just use a PC for two years and replace it with both costing about what one Mac would cost. Preference for what type of PC is all personal. I just got a great deal on the following:

[HP Pavilion dm4-2070us 14" Laptop | Staples®](http://www.staples.com/HP-Pavilion-dm4-2070us-14-Laptop/product_332979)

It’s listed for 599, but you get $100 Visa card with a student ID which makes it $499. Pretty good deal to say the least. It comes with a good amount of memory and a great processor. Good luck in your search.

i’d say at least 50% of business majors have macs. i had no problems using my mac for both k201 and x201. windows can be installed on macs pretty easily.

Do you think a macbook air would be a good or bad idea for an incoming finance and accounting major? I can get a refurbished one for 750 which I am seriously considering because i never use my DVD drive.

I bought a MacBook pro a few months ago, so I’m really hoping that there won’t be any issues with Kelley classes…

Windows can be bought at the computer store in the imu for $20. I recommend buying a mac and installing windows on it for k201 and x201. MS office for pc and mac is available for download for free at the iuware website.

can we install windows into our macbooks from the iuware website?

no you can’t. it’s too big i think.

What are you saying?

He’s saying you can buy Windows and get it installed on your Mac at the computer store in the Indiana Memorial Union, but you can’t download it directly to your Mac via the IUWare website, which allows students to dowload Microsft Office and other programs for free online without students having to go to the computer store.
