<p>There really are no recommended hardware or software. Having a computer isn’t necessarily required becuase BU has a 24 hour computer lab. Any software you would need for classes is available in computer labs so you don’t have to buy it. </p>
<p>That being said. Most kids have laptops unless they a)Already had a desktop or b)are a gamer</p>
<p>And the battle between macs and pcs is an ongoing debate. Most of BU is made up of pc’s (minus COM, where they do a lot of editing) and I have a mac. I’ve only had the minor mac to pc transfer issues. It’s been great.</p>
<p>BU also offers a lot of free software at <a href=“Software Licensing & Distribution : TechWeb : Boston University”>www.bu.edu/software</a>. THey offer it for macs and pc’s.</p>
<p>COM/Journalism prefers MAC?</p>
<p>It doesn’t matter what you get if it suits your personal needs.</p>
