I currently attend a non-target school (undergrad) as a freshman and hopefully if my GPA remains high, plan on transferring to a semi-target school (still undergrad). However, I'm not exactly sure what area of business to pursue. I'm stuck between CIS and Finance, both of which are offered at the school I plan on transferring over to. I do want to work in more of a technological field, which is why I'm leaning more toward CIS. But in all honesty, I just want to go where the money is. I have taken introductory courses in both fields, and neither one appeals more to me than the other, so I don't mind where I'd be headed in terms of interest and/or coursework. However, I have heard many negative opinions on CIS. From "you'll never get a real high paying job with that degree because its simply a watered-down CS degree" to "employers aren't really looking for graduates with a CIS degree". I just want to know - is CIS really worth it? Hows the job market out there for graduates with a CIS degree? What's their pay, and what is it more or less what they do? I've done my fair share of research, but maybe I can get someone who has personal experience with this? How is it for them years after graduation? Hopefully if all goes well, after about two or three years of work experience I plan on going for an MBA with a concentration in information systems(if i can get into a t20 school, preferably NYU Stern since i live in NY, so for convenience). Since I want to obtain a MBA specializing in information systems, would it be better to have a undergrad degree in CIS? Or would it still be OK for me to pursue it with an undergrad degree in finance? or should i stick my MBA specialization in finance if my undergrad degree is there? Or would a MS finance be preferable? Sorry for the ton of questions, and thank you for your time guys !
