Computer people...help!!!

Ok so I'm trying to choose a laptop for college...and I've narrowed down the choices to 2...

They have the same proccessors, brand, screen size and stuff like that but I'm not sure about the memory and Hard Drive

Laptop 1-$750, 8GB Memory/750GB Hard Drive

Laptop 2-$650, 6GB Memory/640GB Hard Drive

Id use the laptop for homework, downloading/playing music, surf the internet, facebook, aim, occasional games...

So which one should I get? I'm tight on money so if I don't have to spend extra money than I wont

the 2nd one will be more than you need.

can you link laptop one im looking for a laptop with those specs. Laptop 1 is better 2 is better price wise for doing everything but games. Depending on what you mean by games 1 would be better but depends on the video card and processor.

If your tight on money, I’d wait a week or two more and look for others… There’s really no reason to spend money on a laptop with 8 GB of memory, you’ll get by fine with one with 4/6 GB.

You shouldn’t be spending $100 dollars more for 100 GB more hard drive space. You can find a 1 TB external hard drive for $70-$100

If you want a good cheap computer, you can easily find one for ~$500. Look for one with an i5/i7 processor, 4/6 GB ram, ~500 GB hard drive.

yea based on the specs you posted its hard to tell which is “better”

Hard drive space barely even matters. You can spend $70-100 to get 1 TB of space like ZapadniyRus said.

From my view, the only way a college kid could fill 640+ GB of space is by downloading A LOT OF MOVIES AND MUSIC.

Nowadays 4 GB RAM or higher is standard. 4 GB of RAM or higher is good.

Last one I suppose. As Dylan said it’s hard to tell based on those specs. 6GB of RAM is fine, and 650GB of hard drive space is more than enough, so since all other things are equal just go with the cheaper one. I’ve got a decent amount of music, some movies and plenty of uh… adult entertainment and I haven’t even used half of my 250GB hard drive.

^^^Laptop 2

^^^Laptop 1

I would go with laptop 2 its almost the same as 1 but its just smaller but who cares.

You can find very good laptops for around $400 for these needs. Go check out Newegg.

youre not gonna be editing videos or playing crysis so just get an hp dm1z or some other high end netbook

No one else??? =(

Go for more RAM.

I’d go with Laptop 2 or even one with lower specs since you only intend to use the computer for basic use.

If you only need to use the computer for ordinary use, browsing the web and music, then I would go with the cheaper laptop. Both laptops are identical in terms of processing speed, so one isn’t faster than the other. Even a 650 GB hard drive is more than enough space for one person, so that isn’t an issue either. You won’t notice the extra two GB of RAM, so don’t pay the money for it. It comes down to the screen size and weight. Laptop 2 is smaller and thus weighs less. That 17.3" screen is pretty big and makes the Laptop 1 not very portable and clunky. You can’t go wrong with either one, but save yourself the extra $100 and get the cheaper one.

Maybe I should I get a laptop with an i5 proccessor, and a bit less memory?
