Computer Printer

As we help our child prepare for the new semester, we are wondering what type of printer (if any) we should get to go with the shiny new Macbook we just purchased.

The options are (1) a small laser printer (cheap and reliable high quality black and white printing), or a color inkjet printer (generally work well, but but use very expensive cartridges and can be persnickety at times). It would be a no-brainer if we knew for sure that a color printer is not necessary, but we don't know that yet! Our thought is that if color printing is only rarely necessary, it would be best to go with the black and white laser printer, and let D print color materials at Kinkos or in the library. But we don't know practically what would work best. Can you help with experiences or advice? Thanks!

If you really think she needs one, get the black and white laser printer. I brought a printer my first year and haven’t brought it back since then, I just print at the library for 5 cents/page.

personally, I didn’t print anything in color in 4 years.

I had a printer, but I didn’t replace the ink when it ran out. After that, I just used the computer labs.
