For a complete beginner who has had no significant experience in programming, would an Intro to programming class at NYU be very difficult?

ask this on the NYU forum.

Udacity. 'Nuff said.

^ Thanks! This seems great

No problem! You might also consider Coursera.

I would recommend taking a college programming course.

The online classes are fantastic, but there’s nothing like having someone go through your code and tell you directly how to improve it and what you’re doing wrong.

The main thing with a programming class in general is that I don’t have any idea about how to program (other than like the Lego robotics things), and don’t want to be in too over my head. I’m looking for a science-y elective class to take as a freshman, and wanted to get exposure to something I haven’t had experience with before and might be interested in.

Maybe I’ll take the online classes and see how I do, and then decide whether to take a college class?

Well isn’t the point of an introductory programming class to “introduce” you to programming?
If you take the beginner class, you’ll be with people who don’t know how to program either.

Just take intro c++ or intro whatever. They’ll assume you know squat about programming.

“Lesson 1: The CPU and how it interacts with You”
