computer repair (mac) for vandy students

Hi all, if anyone would care to comment on the best way for a resident of the Commons to get his Mac to a repair outfit, would appreciate it. Son is currently out of town on Vandy business and reports pixel failure on a third of his Mac screen..he didn't drop it or anything and carries a very nerdly backpack with lots of extra laptop padding. He has backed up his documents. I think his Mac is 1.5 years old. Will have to dig up if he bought any service package at purchase...was hoping he would get at least three years on this MAC. (shoud he have bought service extended warranty?). I dunno. Eldest bro's Mac was stolen the very first day he went to work in a major city.

I see that the Macauthority is located a few miles away off of Wedgewood..of course son has no car and so getting there will be a pain. I don't see evidence of an ITT repair service for fee office at Vandy on campus. Alternatives? Resounding kudos ofr Macauthority as the place to bring his laptop? Hopefully he can get by on Vandy public computers instead of renting.

welcoming anyone who could comment who has repaired a Mac in Nashville while a Vandy student

many thanks.

if he has a warranty, then he can take the computer to the apple store at green hills and repair it for free. Last year my mac died and I got my hard drive replaced at the apple store. Since he doesn’t have a car he can take the bus, or try to get an upperclassmen to take him to green hills.

I bought an iMac last year and S (who was my guide since he has 2 macs) made me buy the 3 year warranty. Do you know if you paid the extra fee for it? This summer the scroller in our mouse stopped working. I called and they told me how to clean it and said call back if it didn’t work and they would send a new one. Their solution worked and I had no need to call back, but their customer service was great.

The Green Hills Apple store can be a very busy place. I would advise him to go on a weekday to minimize wait time. Good luck!

thanks very much…discovered we did buy the three year plan and he has another year to go on it thankfully! he has not had to figure out getting about by taxi yet but suppose all that will work out…I saw a MacAuthority location for repairs off of Wedgewood near 65, but he will figure out if he should report to the Apple Store or there…
