Does USC have any computer requirement, especially the Viterbi school? Or are there adequate computers for students to use?

My intent is to take my 3-yr old laptop with me for internet, checking email, MS Office, and any simple programs that a 1 ghz machine can handle. Any advanced computer use (Engineering programs, etc.) I intend to do on a school machine.

But if I do need to buy a new laptop because of requirements/lack-of-computers-for-student-use, then I will.

For arch, they come mid May, so soon!

Ok, well I asked the same question by email to the Viterbi Admissions staff and got this response today:

Thanks for your email. We do not have any computer requirements or recommendations. There are adequate computer facilities all across campus that can meet any of your needs in classes here at USC.

That said, having your own computer is always a convenience. Your plan to bring your current laptop sounds like a good one. If you find that you need a new one (a very personal opinion), you can always then purchase a new one.

Best of luck, and well see you at orientation.

cool. which computer stores are on/around campus?
