Is it necessary to have Office 2007 to do the Myitlab stuff for this class? D's is 2003 and so wondering if we need to buy the newer version.

Last year, I just downloaded the 90 day trial version for the two months of excel because my Mac’s Excel was too different from that of Windows. However, they try to cater to people that have Mac’s also, although they don’t do a very good job.

Unfortunately, I think we already used up the trial on her computer. Do you just need it for Excel, what about PPT and Word?

Sorry, I don’t have the answer to your question, but I have a different question about the class: Has anyone ordered the textbook for this class? In the notes, it says to wait until class starts… is there anyone who’s taken this class who can chime in?

The bookstore said it’s a brand new package that isn’t complete yet, but did say it doesn’t include a book it had included in the past. They highly recommended going to class to see exactly what was required.

The reason I only used the trial for excel was because the word on my mac was so similar to the word we were being tested on. However, there are too many different commands and complications with excel. It would’ve taken 10x as long to do the last two tutorials if I had used the excel on my mac because I would’ve been forced to find the mac equivalent to the windows instructions she provides. Also, powerpoint doesn’t take up its own section of the course. Instead, it’s just dumped into the Word quarter. The course consists of Windows, Word, Excel Spreadsheets, Excel Databases.

The book is completely useless unless you’re very interested in the material and would like to do extra research for your own benefit. It is never used in the course at all. Instead, she’ll recommend to a student that comes after class trying to explain something advanced that she was not going to cover to check out the book.

I actually bought the book the first day of class and returned it soon thereafter. Only the online software download is needed/used.
