Does anyone know if CS 101 is really a beginner course, or will it be too advanced for a non-engineering major with no prior programming or computer science experience?

It’s really a beginner course. It’s too bad that Dr. Roth isn’t teaching it this semester, but it definitely won’t be too advanced for anybody who was talented enough to get into Vanderbilt and who works hard.

Thank you, @Sykology. Any idea whether Roth is likely to teach again in the fall?

On the topic of CS101, how is the class in general?

I have no way to know if Roth will teach it in the Fall, but it wouldn’t be surprising. I think CS101 is a very easy science class and although it is pretty large it doesn’t have a weed-out feel to it. There’s a lot of assignments but they are all very reasonable. The tests (with Roth) were extremely easy, in my opinion.
