Hi everyone! How impossible would it be to do Comp Sci (LNS) and Haas at Berkeley in terms of work load? I have never coded before just fyi. Also, with those two, is it still possible to graduate in 4 years? Will I have to sacrifice a lot of extracurricular, research, internship and study abroad opportunities? Thanks.
CS 61A, the first course, is a killer.
If you have never coded before, I suggest that you learn how to do so during the summer.
Many decide not to major computer science after taking that class.
In addition, Haas School of Business is difficult to get in.
You will need a backup plan, e.g., econ.
Haas is not worth your time. Focus on CS and think about adding other majors after you know you can handle it. Unless you want to do accounting (which I can’t imagine you would with CS), there’s no value undergrad business will add to your education that you can’t do outside of class.
if you’ve never coded before, Berkeley CS might be too much (I would guess most Berkeley CS majors knew some coding in high school). If you want to give it a try, learn programming in the summer and see if you like it or not.
Students interested in CS but have no programming experience may take CS 10 before taking CS 61A.
