Hi I am an incoming freshmen for Fall 2015, am interested in Computer Science and Creative Writing program. Is there anyone who has studied either at Washu who is willing to share
your experience here?

Also what dorms are great for CS or engineering students?

Thanks a bunch!

If you want a quieter environment for engineering, you might consider being on sub free, but in general, any room will be pretty quiet with the door closed. Moderns might be slightly better, because the suite may further insulate. That was my experience on Park 1 this year.

CS department is good…if you have specific questions let me know

If you’re entering in fall of 2015, you are planning pretty far ahead, haha…

I’m assuming you mean entering fall 2011 as class of 2015. Either way, modern dorms will probably be quieter, since traditionals tend to promote the party atmosphere. I feel like you will have more floor camaraderie in a traditional or subfree floor.

As for CS, it’s alright, though CS131 is definitely a weedout class/BME nightmare class.

131 is a joke compared to every other CS class…132 is much more difficult relatively speaking. Although I can imagine its harder for a non CS major that doesn’t really care about the kind of stuff.

//Also what dorms are great for CS or engineering students?//

As a freshmen, your housing choices are

1) Single, Double, Triple

2) Traditional or Modern (IMO, the personality of each floor is more dependent on the people, and not the type of dorm)

3) Sub Free or Not Sub Free (more conducive room study environment vs. study in bear’s den or study room or library if floor is not good study environment)

I don’t really see any of those options favoring engineers per say, it’s all a matter of personal preference.
