I’m someone who’s interested in foreign languages (which obviously fits into MB’s strengths), but I also want to study under a solid Math/Comp Sci. program in college, and I’m curious as to y’all’s experiences with those areas there
Also interested. Will be (hopefully) studying CS at Midd.
Middlebury computer science teams compete in coding competitions, which can be regarded as a potentially good sign with respect to the breadth of its program, as well as of student interest in the field. In this example, its A-team placed in the top ten in an event that included 30 other schools: https://cs.hamilton.edu/ccscne/.
This article mentions the increasing popularity of the CS major.

I’m a current student at Midd, and speaking from personal experience, I love the math department! I have had great experiences with the professors (helpful, good lecturers, caring), and the classes I’ve taken are challenging but manageable. Like most profs at Midd, the math profs love to explain things again and again in office hours. They are interested in their students’ lives and they are good at sharing their knowledge.
Thank you all for the replies!
For further ideas with respect to liberal arts colleges strong in quantitative fields, you could look into those included in a Princeton Review sampling, “Great Schools for Mathematics Majors,” such as Haverford, Hamilton, Bowdoin, Reed and Carleton.
I’m sure you’ve read about this already, but CS is on the rise at Middlebury. So much so that they are building a brand new building to house the CS and math department because they are outgrowing their respective places. I only know this because construction is taking place right outside of my dorm lol, but those are both very strong and in demand programs with a lot of opportunities on the rise.
Have they finished construction?
yes
