Computer Science at Caltech

I’m a current high school student (rising senior) who is planning to major in Computer Science. Caltech is among the schools I am thinking about applying to. I know that Caltech has world-class programs in many STEM subjects, but it concerns me a little that its CS department is relatively new and not quite as highly ranked.

How good is Caltech’s CS program? Does it compare to schools like MIT and CMU or schools like UIUC? How large is it? How broad is the curriculum? What do graduates generally do after graduating?

Thanks, and sorry if this a question that gets asked a lot.

Caltech CS ranked No 2. here:

Some go straight into industry, some get a M.S., and others go for PhD. Among the few CS majors I’ve met, all have done fine.
